There are often times that it would be so easy to just give up. Those are the times that God has you and the devil wants you. It is during those times that your Faith is the most important. While meeting with one of my lawyers after my son's death, my favorite Bible verse happen to find its way into our conversation. I've not been able to look at that verse the same way since. This was very much so the worst time of my life (we will get into that more as the blogs continue) and Psalm 23 came up. "Ye tho I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me".
I've always loved this verse because I felt that it meant to not be scared because the Lord is with you. And while this is true, we overlook one word in this passage that brought my thinking on it to a whole new level. "Through". My lawyer pointed out that this one, insignificant, overlooked word is actually very likely the most important word in the entire verse.
Now look at that verse again. Does it say, "...I walk into the valley of death..."? No it doesn't. Does it say, "...I will stay in the valley..."? No, it does not! It says, " ... I walk THROUGH the valley..."!! The word "through" meaning that you WILL come out on the other side. I will not be stuck in that situation.
Now, think back on the hard times that you've been through in your life. They were short lived and you made it through to the good times. Every time. Keep this in mind as you go forward. You are going to face battles of all sorts. But that is when you need to have the Faith that the Lord saw you through all of the other ones and He's going to see you through this one as well.
