How many times in your life has fear stopped you from trying something new? How many times has that fear turned into anxiety? Your heart starts to race, your stomach begins to churn, your breath catches in your throat. Fear has tightened its grip on you causing physical reactions.
Now, think back on some of those same times that you pushed through the fear and found out that you really enjoyed this new experience. Isaiah 41:10 – So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
Trust me, this is not exactly the easiest thing that you will ever do. I have always been an anxious person but it seems to have gotten a ton worse since the accident almost three years ago. I'm always having random anxiety attacks it seems. Almost always in fear that something bad is going to happen. Then I very quickly remember that I have given my life to God to do with what he sees fit. That no matter what, He is with me. That He already had our life written our before we were even born and we can not change what He has written in The Book. Realizing this forces my anxiety to just disappear.
Every year I fear that I will fail my family, my community, and the Lord within the operations of our nonprofit's Christmas events. I become overwhelmed at the thought of not receiving enough donations to to provide for the families that rely on us. Then I remember all the other years that I have felt the same way. And without fail, God has made a way, EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!
Fear makes you think that you can not accomplish something. It makes you feel weak. Once you realize that fear is a liar, you find out just how strong you are and how much you can do. This feeling is amazing!
What is one fear that you will try to face this week? How did it make you feel to conquer it?
